and she knew that this was a great final resting place. She started life in Leadville, Colorado, and arrived back there on June 21, 2008, her 88th birthday!

Oh, Judy. My heart is with you tonight.
Colorado isn't one of my happy places. Pueblo is where my Daddy died. I remember so much of what I want to forget.
What I do remember, is going to Leadville with a pastor's wife. She'd take me, just me. A 14/15/16 year old, broken hearted shattered girl ...to a friends house up in Leadville. To get away from Pueblo and all it's reality of pain.
A weekend ...of beauty and love ..and pampering ... of healing and grounding. A weekend where I'd learn to bring my pain to a level that could be dealt with.
Just seeing the name Leadville, brings my heart to center focus. All will be ok.
What a beautiful spot for your mom to be find a final resting place.

This spot looks just lovely, with all the trees. A beautiful spot for you and your family to come visit your wonderful mom. Although I bet you're like me-- I rarely have a chance to visit the mausoleum where my Grandma's ashes are, but I talk to her every day. :):)

Leadville has always been a special place to me because of the history and the beauty.
What a great thing for your mother to be back where she started. Isn't it also a more human way for the final step in existence, rather than formaldehyde and metal boxes?
I've always told my wife that I'd like to be scattered in Buckskin Gulch just outside Alma.

Thanks all for your kind remarks. I'm glad to hear nice associations with Leadville. Her ashes rest in an aspen grove in the Jewish cemetery with a spectacular view of a snow-capped mountain range. We plan a little marble marker for her there with the dates she lived in Leadville and her date of death.
It looks like a lovely place. I'm sure she's at peace there.
